The Tools Desk

Tools for clearer academic work.

Make a workable plan. See what needs revision. These small utilities help you organise your own work and decide the next step.

The allocator runs in your browser. The worksheet is a blank file you can use offline. Neither uploads your work.

Plan your work

Start with your assignment brief and the work it asks you to do. Use a planning tool to make a first allocation, then adjust it when your evidence or argument needs a different balance.

Review your draft’s structure

Once you have a draft, examine what its paragraphs actually contribute. A worksheet can expose repetition and gaps; you still need to check the evidence and decide how to revise your own work.

Work with sources

Organise source claims, methods and limitations before drawing comparisons. Keep attribution traceable and return to the original sources to check your interpretation.

Prepare a journal revision

Keep reviewer requests, manuscript changes and unresolved decisions connected. A tracker helps organise your response; it does not judge the quality or acceptability of the study.

Use the result as a starting point.

A suggested word allocation is a planning estimate, not an assessment rule. A paragraph map reveals what your draft contains; it does not establish that the evidence is accurate or the argument is sound.

Check your brief, verify your sources and keep decisions about your work under your control. Each utility links to a guide that explains its limits and a useful next step.
